Iraq Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research

Qaddim admission platform

Qaddim is the Ministry's national admission platform: one online application to Iraq's central admission channels, used by 500K+ applicants a year.

Client
Iraq Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
My role
Lead frontend engineer, AAU
Stack
Next.js, TypeScript, React

Problem

Every year, 500K+ applicants go through central admission. Qaddim had to take every one of those applications online, across two admission channels (the general channel and the channel for the families of martyrs), for graduates of the scientific, literary and arts branches, in both exam rounds.

My role

I directed the frontend at AAU: the architecture, the reusable components and the engineers who built it with me.

Approach

A scalable Next.js and TypeScript architecture, reusable components shared across the whole application flow, and accessible, user-first pages built with the design and marketing teams. Performance and scalability were part of the job from the start, not an afterthought.

Outcome

Qaddim is live at cap.mohesr.gov.iq and serves 500K+ applicants a year as the Ministry's official route into the central admission channels.
